This Responsible Purchasing Policy applies to the Perhaps app (the "App") provided by Rare Treat, Inc. ("Perhaps," "we," "us," or "our"). It should be read together with our Terms of Service, in particular section 4 (boxes and results), section 12 (responsible purchasing), and section 15 (suspension and closing your account).

1. Our commitment

Perhaps is a shopping app for watches. Collecting should be enjoyable and part of a balanced life. We want you to make informed choices about what you buy.

2. Know the risks

Perhaps is not a video game, but it has game-like features: when you open a box, you do not know in advance which watch you will receive, and surprise outcomes can make repeated purchases feel compelling. The main risk is compulsive shopping and overspending, sometimes called shopping or spending addiction. Excessive or compulsive purchasing can harm your finances, your relationships, and your well-being.

Watch for these signs:

  • Spending more than you planned, spending beyond your budget, or going into debt.
  • Finding it hard to stop once you start.
  • Opening more boxes to make up for a result you were disappointed with, or to recapture the excitement of an earlier one.
  • Neglecting work, family, friends, or other responsibilities.
  • Feeling guilty, anxious, or secretive about your spending.
  • Losing sleep or spending more time in the App than you intended.

Remember that the watch you receive may have a display value lower than the price you paid. Opening boxes is a form of entertainment, not a way to make money.

3. Healthy habits

  • Set a budget before you open boxes, and spend only money you can afford to spend on entertainment.
  • Set limits on the time and money you spend in the App, and keep track of them in your transaction history.
  • Take regular breaks.
  • Do not buy on impulse, to manage stress or emotions, or with money you need for other things.
  • Be especially mindful that surprise-style purchases can encourage repeat spending.

4. Your role and ours

You are best placed to judge whether your spending is right for your circumstances, and you are responsible for your own purchasing decisions. We do not promise to detect unhealthy use on your behalf, and the App may not be suitable for every person's personal or financial circumstances. If you cannot use the App responsibly, stop using it and seek help.

We review this policy regularly and welcome feedback on how we can improve it.

5. Getting help

If you or someone you know is having difficulty controlling shopping or spending, or if using Perhaps is affecting your finances, relationships, or well-being, please reach out to a financial counselor or a mental health professional. These free services can help:

  • National Foundation for Credit Counseling: nonprofit financial counseling, 1-800-388-2227 or nfcc.org.
  • SAMHSA National Helpline: free, confidential treatment referral and information, 24 hours a day, 1-800-662-4357.
  • Debtors Anonymous: peer support for problems with spending and debt, debtorsanonymous.org.
  • 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: if you are in crisis, call or text 988.

By using Perhaps, you confirm that you meet the minimum age in our Terms of Service, that you understand these risks, and that you will purchase only with money you can afford to spend.
